Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is a procedure to correct drooping upper eyelids and puffy bags below the eyes by removing excess fat, skin, and muscle that make you look older and more tired. Most of the patients are 35 or older, but if droopy, baggy eyelids run in your family, you may decide to have eyelid surgery at a younger age. In this case your surgeon may perform a transconjunctival blepharoplasty. In this procedure the incision is made inside your lower eyelid, removing excess fat and leaving no visible scar.
Typical blepharoplasty
In a typical procedure, the surgeon makes incisions following the natural lines of your eyelids; in the creases of your upper lids, and just below the lashes in the lower lids. The surgeon separates the skin from underlying fatty tissue and muscle, removes excess fat, and often trims sagging skin and muscle. The incisions are then closed with very fine sutures.
After your surgery
You have no need to stay in clinic after surgery. The stitches will be removed a week after surgery. Keep your activities to a minimum for five days.
Our recommendations
In case of need eyelid surgery is accompanied by facelift. This procedures can be made at once. In 3-4 months after surgery we recommend to eliminate crow’s feet using Botox.
